I want to give you a report on Apostle Adrienne Hawthorne's Homegoing! I have been trying to report on the occasion since last week but it's been non-stop. I am back home now and a bit rested. We had a blowout celebration! The celebration was conducted at St. Monica's Church in Rochester, New York. The seating capacity of 1000 was full. Bishop James Hartsfield of Mt. Sinai Ministries officiated. His choir and several soloists were there and they rocked the house! Man! I love African American choir music! I can hear them now! The family requested "no dead music" and "celebrate". It was ALIVE and we did! We shouted, danced, sang, preached and prophesied and celebrated the Lord whom Adrienne served! I preached the eulogy on "What Apostle Adrienne Believed". Several of Apostle Hawthorne's team members assisted in the service. There was a strong impartation of joy there. Bishop Gary Brooks of Boaz International Communion of Ministers led an impartation of the joy of the Lord to the congregation as they lifted their hands to receive! We are trying to find out if there was a recording made of the service. A memorial site is in the process of being constructed by Apostle Jeff Green of Vision of Hope in California. Offerings are still being received for a trust fund for Adia and Azisa (Piru), her daughters. You can access these at http://www.madriennehawthorne.com/adrienne/ . From My Heart to Yours By Kathy Campbell

From My Heart to Yours By Kathy Campbell

Recently I had a dream in which I walked outside and noticed that someone had come and cut all the plants around the house to the same height. I first noticed the bushes in the front of the house. They were no longer taller than the plants around them. When they are cut down the green is gone and all you see is the brown limbs of the bush. I stood with my mouth open in shock. Then I awakened from the dream. The garden plants all cut to the same height definitely put it in uniformity. No plant was higher than the other plants. However, the garden no longer looked good or right. I pondered this dream throughout the day and felt like God might be saying something. Could it be that we sometimes think there is something wrong with a church because the service is not what we are accustomed to? Personally our church has been accused at different times of not teaching the Word. Obviously that isn’t true. We do teach the Word. The Word of the Lord to us as a body has been to train and equip the saints for the work of the ministry. That is our goal- to be Bible people. Every year we challenge our people to read through the Bible. We have challenged our people to memorize Scriptures. We pray the Scriptures. We challenge our people in giving exhortations from the Scriptures. The Bible is the most precious Book I own. I cannot get enough of it. There are times that I even take it to bed with me as I sleep. Many times as I read the Scriptures, I find myself crying over someone who dies. For example, I have wondered what the sense of loss was like for the people when a leader such as Moses died or what Jacob must have felt when Rachel died. There are times when I quote Scriptures that I am taken into the groaning of the Spirit. The Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword. The Word of God is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. I love the Word of God! I think I have discovered a clue as to why this accusation has been wrought against us. In recent days I listened as someone spoke of motives and methods in our service to the Lord. Our motive in serving must always be to bring glory and honor to the name of the Lord. That must not change. Methods however, may vary. Do we need to have three to five points in a sermon to feel like we have been taught? Does the pastor need to teach from the Scriptures twenty to thirty minutes to feel like we have been fed? Does the teaching need to take place after worship and announcements? Just like plants in a garden, I believe that God has much variety or a great many methods in speaking to us on any given Sunday as we join together to worship Him.

Our method is probably different than many of us are accustomed to. But that does not nullify our motive to serve the Lord. We have been instructed of the Lord to raise up a team to train and equip. In our church we have at present, four elders. The four of us work together in preparing for our Sunday morning service. If you were to visit one of our services, you might hear from all four of us or maybe three of us or maybe two of us or maybe just one of us. Always the Scriptures are used. I might quote a Scripture and preach from that Scripture quoted. One of us may share a dream and exhort the people from what the Lord is saying through the dream. At times a three point message is given. Always, we point the people back to the Scriptures. We like to have the leadership team participate in speaking what God is saying at that time. I personally enjoy hearing from the other three on the team.

One Sunday a month we have fellowship Sunday where we share a meal together after the service. During the service on fellowship Sunday, we have open microphone Sunday. On this Sunday, we train our people in hearing from the Lord during the worship service. Even the songs we sing ought to be instructing us and not singing just nice sounding melodies. One Sunday when it was open microphone Sunday, the main message that came forth was to “surrender all.” That message may not have had three points to it but the eyes filling with tears as ones shared had as great an impact as a three point sermon. One woman shared a dream she had about hanging on to something as water flowed around her. As different ones shared, she came forward to share her dream and how she thought in the dream she was doing the right thing so she would not be swept up in the current but after hearing the main message of “surrendering all” she knew that God was telling her to let go and surrender. Wonderful! We like the way we do church. We enjoy the way we do church. We find great freedom in walking in the calling God has on us. Are our methods different? Yes. Does that change our motive? No. This is our desire- to follow the Lord. I still love the phrase, I pray and I obey! Are three point sermons wrong? No. Is uniformity the answer? No. Let’s allow each planting of the Lord to be just that- the planting of the Lord.

Isaiah 61:1-3
"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." NKJV

Did you know? By Kathy Campbell

Proverbs 4:13
Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life. NKJV

Did you know that the word instruction used here means to discipline, reform, bring correction or chastisement (literally with blows or figuratively with words), to bring a warning, doctrine or instruction. Often when hearing the word instruction I automatically imagine a setting in which an instructor is giving information to cause those listening to be knowledgeable in a certain area. That is true. However, as instruction is used in this verse, it means much more than simply giving information. It carries the idea of a father instructing his children. Not all instruction from fathers appears to be strictly informational. There may be times of discipline and correction.

Although discipline and correction are forms of instruction, we might not categorize these in the same way as hearing from an instructor at church, school, college, or on the job. For example, if someone takes you aside and speaks to you about gossiping and maybe even asks you to make amends you ought to consider that instruction and take firm hold of it. It will probably not feel good as compared to sitting and listening to a teacher in a classroom but it is still considered in Scripture as instruction. We live in an age when if faced with correction and it doesn’t feel good (little correction does at the time), we entertain thoughts or ways of bypassing the issue. We can become quite creative in avoiding correction. Some of our creativity could include switching positions at the job, getting another room mate, sitting on the opposite side of the room, going in the opposite direction to avoid facing the “instructor” or it might even be finding another church. The Bible says to take firm hold of discipline, correction, doctrine, instruction, and do not let go!

Instruction embraced will cause you to be strong.

The School of the Spirit

The School of the Spirit
By Kathy Campbell and Jeff Mulenga

The School of the Spirit is a corporate gathering of worship, prayer and ministry in which people receive personal prayer, healing, deliverance and prophetic ministry. It is held the second Friday of each month at Harvest Fellowship. Pastor Kathy Campbell oversees the School of the Spirit. The School usually starts with an exploding and anointed praise and worship time lead by Pastor Bob Campbell & the Harvest Fellowship. Worship team. After worship ministry team members give exhortations from the theme for the School of the Spirit and/or exercise their spiritual gifting such as Word of Knowledge, Prophecy, etc. Some might do interpretive dance or sing a new song over someone who attended that evening. There are a variety of talents exercised on that night. The School of the Spirit also offers personal ministry through healing deliverance and prophetic teams. Team leaders provide a questionnaire in which visitors comment on what was ministered to them. We would like to share with you some of these comments, feelings and responses from one of our School of the Spirit meetings.

From the Healing Team
“My joints moved freely!”

“I went back to the Dr. and there was no longer any trace of the disease!”

“My back pain left!”

“Ministry was extremely relevant to my current situation. Thank God!”

Comments On Worship
“ Freedom in worship,”

“It has always been a pleasure to fellowship with you all. There is a sense of freeness of worship that makes visitors feel safe. This is my third visit. Each time I have felt a sense of hope and have been refreshed.”

From the Prophetic Teams
When asked what God communicated, one person wrote, “ His sensitive beauty.”

“It is a blessing to see children speaking words of encouragement.”

“I received encouragement and blessing.”

“Kathy saw an image of me climbing a tree – it was metaphorical, but I just did that this past Sunday for the first time in two years, actually I got stuck, my friend took pictures”, She concluded, “ If I had a million dollars I would give it to you (or at least some!!).

“Ministry was extremely relevant to my current situation.”

“Yes, the words spoken were what God has been speaking already. It is such a tremendous blessing to hear the Lord confirm it through others.”

“ I just want to thank you as a fellowship for being outside the box, you all have been quite a blessing in my life. Thank you for pouring so freely into my life.”

“Peace, peace, peace and confirmation of something God has been speaking to me. I appreciate a place I can come to be ministered, and also a safe place where I can bring family, friends, the unsaved and unloved to be ministered to. Thank you.”

“Yes, we were encouraged by many things: the team work, the way many members contributed, worship, the prophetic ministry.”

“The Prophetic words were accurate and touched some current needs for confirmation and help.”

One group member noted that everything was so right. She wrote, “Canada was mentioned. I have a French Canadian heritage and I’m going to a ministry training in Canada at the end of this month for missions, this has been confirmed here.”

“Power, joy, deliverance for His people.”

“I sensed the power of rejection broken. I felt joy-laughter. I like how people are given a chance to step out. I have never experienced anything like that before.”

“ A feeling of peace, Very encouraging. I needed that exhortation. Sometimes life’s trials can be overwhelming, and hard to deal with. I felt encouraged, I think this Church is doing a great work. Continue to build and don’t come down off that wall.”

“They did not rush.”

Hunger and Thirst ~Lorne Ainsworth
Nov 17, 2002

Matthew 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. NKJV

Hunger and thirst are appetites that return frequently. They need fresh satisfactions. Yesterday’s food and water will not provide for today’s appetite. Give me these or I die. Jesus’ promise to us is that we will be blessed and filled.

~Lorne Ainsworth

Discernment or Distrust
Nov 18, 2002

Discernment or Distrust
(Do you walk in discernment or do you walk in distrust?)

Discernment is a gift from God. Distrust is a gift of suspicion.

Discernment is from God.
Distrust is from the soul.

Discernment is a right analysis of a specific time, a specific person and/or people and/or a specific situation. Distrust is usually a wrong analysis for the reason that it is deep-rooted in wounds that have not been healed.

Discernment does not look for mistakes while Distrust not only looks for mistakes but also feels satisfaction in finding them.

Discernment is not critical but Distrust is critical.

Discernment causes you to first seek the Lord. Distrust causes you to seek for ears to whisper in.

Discernment directs you to consult with your leaders. Distrust directs you to your neighbor’s doors.

Discernment works with the leaders. Distrust works alienated from the leaders.

Discernment cries out for wisdom. Distrust cries out to be heard.

Discernment is a powerful tool from God to produce wholeness. Distrust is a powerful tool from the soul producing greater suspicion.

Discernment focuses your attention upward while Distrust draws attention inward and focuses outward.

Discernment seeks wisdom for a solution. Distrust seeks to keep the problem moving.
